This is an attempt to express some of the beauty of Islamic Art , and to tackle calligraphy. It is made of Walnut with aluminium and brass inlays. The design was cut out partly by router and partly using a new scroll system I have developed The writing says EMIRATES and is the logo of the eponymous airline.

that’s a great looking plaque… having served time in the UAE, I had the opportunity to see first hand the amazing letters they use… it is a pretty cool looking language…

Thanks Wisty,
I was in the RCAF for nearly 2 years in 60-61, a failed pilot at 21, what a start in life LOL
I thought all the services had been amalgamated? It can’t be easy being a woodworker in the Navy, unless your the ship’s carpenter. You’ll have to do what they did in sailing days; make ships in bottles LOL
Fair winds and calm seas
