I’ve been carving and woodworking for several years now, just ran across LumberJocks. This is my latest carving/painting. An unusual log that grew in an “S” shape, the “spirit” of the wood wasn’t very cooperative, I’d be whittling along and all of a sudden the grain would take a sharp dive. The far left and far right parts of the log were fairly soft carving, taking into account the variable grain direction…. but I thought I’d have to use dynamite to carve that mean lil kitten in the middle. It really wasn’t a knot, but it sure felt like carving ironwood.
