Project Information

This is my Cindy Drozda finial box it measures 2"w x3"h & is made from cherry and padauk with a wax finish. I made this for my wife, who really loves it. I"m pretty pleased with the result even though the finial could be a lot better. The lid is a "perfect fit" thanks to a square scraper I made. This was a really fun project and I hope to make more with my own design and style in the future.
Thanks for looking.
Lou

excellent work…
what material did you use in making yer square scraper???
at one time, i made one out of an old bastard file, but, i wuz warned repeatedly by many friends and turners that i wuz risking a broken tool by using such hard material…
i pouted and tossed it in favor of a pinnacle cryo tool…
i must say i like that scraper… :)

Lou, Outstanding job on your box it looks awesome. I just left my shop a coulple hours ago turning a goblet on my lathe i just got two weeks ago. The only problems i am having in getting smooth cuts on the inside of my goblet, i think i need to sharpen my scrapper cause it is not doing anything for me.

Lou: Great job on the little Cindy Drozda box. I think Cindy herself would give to a " tip of the hat".

That is about the smallest little box I think I have ever seen… I love the inlayed ring, just like Cindy does…... and the finial to me looks just fine. If I was to change any of this piece, I would use a darker wood for the finial, and maybe try and get it just a bit thiner…if it is possible…..

Yes. well done my friend !

Lou, this is a beautiful, delicate peice. The insert ring really sets it off, and the finial takes a deft hand. Nicely done.
