Project Information

For our 3rd anniversary (leather anniversary), my wife wanted a show lead for our dog. I didn't like the idea of it just being tossed in a bag, and thought that the investment needed a nice box to protect it. So I made this box out of walnut and (i think) maple. I hand cut the dovetails, my first project where I have done this by hand. The lid is held in place by an accident during the build, where there is a misalignment of the end dado is not aligned with the side dados, causing a good friction fit when the lid is shut completely. I finished it with Natural Danish Oil, and used Finishing Wax for the final coat.

Nice job, it's a good looking box. It sure is nice when accidents work to our advantage.
