Saber Saw wood case

A couple years ago, my first saber saw wore out, so I bought a new one. I was surprised that you no longer get a plastic case for the saber saw…......so I made my own case out of wood.

My son recently tried out my saber saw, and he likes it…......so I will be giving a new one as a Christmas gift. So, I had to build another wood case for his new saw.

I decided to “spruce up” my son’s case, by burning in an outline of the saber saw on the top of the case. This makes it easy to know what tool is in the wood case.

The case is made from 1/2” thick pine with a 3/16” thick Luan plywood bottom. Hinges and hasp are from Ace hardware.

If you want more details about building this wood case, see my woodworking web site.

Thanks!

Now that’s the way to identify what’s in the box. Great job.

My Bosch Saber saw is years old but still very good. The plastic case it came with makes it very difficult to get the saw, blades and cord back into it, they must be a perfect fit. Your case looks great and looks easy to get everything back inside.

I had the same issues with no room in the old plastic case that came with the saw I finally wore out….....so I made sure to design the wood case large enough to make it easy to put the cord back in, and to hold accessories like blades.
