Well I figured it was about time that I posted a project. This is actually the last completed project, but as we all know there are several in the wings. Just waiting on the weather to improve around here.

This is a butsudan cabinet, made from 1x pine for the most part. The top and bottom have stopped dados cut into them to accept the side pieces. The back of the piece is rabbeted to accept the back.

The drawer is notched to provide a pull, the top of the box was rabbeted to accept the lid. The drawer holds meditation supplies and a small three tea candle holder which sits on the lid to raise the candle height without dumping the drawer. Also the bottom of the drawer is covered in a brown felt to aid in sliding it in and out.

The shelf above the drawer is a piece of 1/4” ply I had laying around which I made a dado in the sides for, the face is edged with a piece of pine.

Dimensions 14”w x 18”t x 7 1/4” d

This project was built in my pre Lumberjocks days. And since I’ve been here the ideas for the next projects are about to explode out of my head. My kingdom for an insulated shop!

Thanks for looking.
