This was a labor of love for our granddaughter’s 5th birthday. She just went crazy when she saw it. She already has it stocked. I found an you tube for making a writing desk and a the manual for a pressed wood desk kit, combined a little of each to come up with this desk. It’s all red oak, top is red oak plywood edged in wood. I tried 3 coats of water base poly over a golden pecan stain. The first coat raised the grain a little, so had to sand again. Not sure if I like the water base, will see how it holds up.

Nice desk, I’m a big fan of red oak for furniture that will be used a lot and I like water base poly over lacquer. Same dry time, no odor and easy clean up.

This is a beautiful desk and nicely done. I’m sure that your granddaughter absolutely loves it.

Nice job Jerry.
All the better that your daughter loved it.
