Here are a few pictures of shadow boxes I’ve made. The first one is a horrible picture of the first shadow box I made for a mentor of mine upon his retirement. It is made from curly maple and cherry. It was the first shadow box I made and it got so much attention that I was compelled to build a few more similar to it.
I changed the proportions a bit for the second one and etched the Air Force logo into the glass above the flag case. I also added maple inlay strips around the portion below the flag. This came about as one of those “design opportunities” resulting from a mistake I made (we’ve all been there, right?).
The third is made from oak and peruvian walnut. This picture was one I took when I was trying to get the “customer’s” input for how he wanted the glass etched.
This concludes my project posting binge (for now).
Thanks for looking,
Scott

It looks to me as though you’ve found a potential cottage industry, if you were so inclined :). Very nice cases, all. How did you etch the glass? It looks very professional. That would make a neat blog entry if you’d like to share sometime.

Scott -
These are very nice! I got a similar one from my shipmates when I left the Naval Hospital Emergency Department in Bremerton, Washington. These become a chrished treasure full of memories.
Very nice work!
