Simple set of built ins for our home office. took me several months to get completed, 2.5 days to install and my wife 3 hours to fill.
All painted birch plywood with many (40+) adjustable shelves. Lots and Lots of shelf pin holes – 800+ all drilled one at a time using the lee valley veritas self pin jig which I had purchased for a previous project. As a side note, I am so glad I bought the veritas self pin jig although a little more expensive then I wanted to spend I have used on 5 shelf projects around the house and it has prevented me from making a number of mistakes and slowed the rate that I add to the firewood pile.
For this project, I purchased the Earlex HPLV sprayer to put down latex paint. My first time using a sprayer – wonderful tool. The smoothness of the finish is really impressive and I am assuming as a first time user I should get better at using it and see even better results. I bought one gallon of HD BEHR Premium Plus Ultra – White Semi Gloss Enamel Interior Paint – added 11 oz of water and using a drill and mixing paddle achieved the viscosity required for spraying ( 120-125 seconds draining the viscosity cup). Using the sprayer was very easy to learn and I achieve very good results on this first project – these builtins have a smoothness that feels much closer to professional made kitchen cabinets then other projects I have made. Another quality purchase based on reviews and experiences listed here on Lumberjocks.
