I got some Spalted Beech from Allen Tomaszek at Milwaukee Woodworks. I like to try try different types of wood. Too bad it can cost as much to ship as it does for the wood!! The accent wood is Padauk. I used 3 applications of Watco Danish Oil. The color of the wood is really nice. The Padauk around the lid is a ‘design opportunity’ that occurred when the original idea didn’t pan out.

Never met a box I didn’t like even when I was confused. Like, is this beech or maple? The Paduak design op really was a great recovery. Good work Robert.

Best,

Very nice box. I have some spalted maple that is very similar to your beech and have been wondering what to do with it. I like how it looks when accented by the padauk on your box.

Fantastic box. Great woods and design…er I mean re-design. Nice save.

Keep it up.
