This wood wall is in a nursery for a client who recently had a new son. The 6 colors are custom and the installation pattern is random. There are 3 shades of gray and 3 shades of blue. The colors were created to have a muted look and not bright like a crayon. The wood is 3/4 inch by 5 inches and a small space was left between the boards to give a faux shiplap appearance.

The name is made from 3 inch thick lumber and cut out to produce the letters you see. The letters are permanently attached to the wall since they reside directly over his crib to ensure they will not fall down. The slim profile of the screws add to the overall look of the room, clean rustic and industrial.

That is really cool!! How did you apply the colors if you don’t mind me asking?

Tim Christensen – The color is General Finishes Milk paint. I made probably about 20 + samples to get these colors for my client. Some are combinations of colors and some are full strength and some are thinned to dilute the color. I applied the color ahead of time at my shop with an HVLP sprayer so it would be much easier to apply where the boards lay flat.

I like this look. Well done.
Are those just pine boards or something else?

Excellent! Great looking from any way you look at it. The colors are great and the project is very creative.

Thank you all for your comments!!

Ohwoodeye – Yes, they are just good ole southern white pine!! I got them rough cut from a sawmill / lumber company and planed them down to thickness and cut to length.
