Hello fellow Jocksters,
Here is my one of a kind mini football helmet display. This proudly displays all 32 NFL football team mini helmets. These are not the really tiny helmets you get in gumball machines, they are the ones that are about the size of a large grapefruit. I have 2 sons and we were buying a helmet here and a helmet there, for birthdays, Christmas etc. after about 2 years and a pile of helmets spilling over the tops of 2 dressers, I finally made this display and finished my…...I mean their collection. It proudly hangs on the wall in their bedroom. Doesn’t take a whole lot of wood. In fact, the local woodcraft store was selling oak “cut-offs” or “shorties” they obtained from a local cabinet shop really cheap. They were various widths and all around 2 feet long. Perfect for a project like this. I cut 32 platforms (for lack of a better word), clipped the corners at a 45 degrees, gave them part of an ogee profie, dadoed, glued and stapled them from the back into 2” strips. Then I connected the (8) 2” strips with a couple of 2” wide longer runners…...all half lapped together. I centered the piece on the wall where I wanted it and drove some screws through the display into some wall studs.
I love woodworking and football…....so this project was a absolute pleasure to create. Thanks for viewing, all comments are welcomed and appreciated.
Still shedding a tear over that incredible Packers vs Cardinals playoff game.

I have a friend that collected these helmets. He would have loved this except for one thing, you still have to dust them. He wants something that magically repels all dust.

NICE! Thats a great lookin display. We (my family) have a collection of autographed baseballs. Something like this would work to display them. I may have to make something similiar to this. Thanks for posting.

Very nice display, Mike. I have not fully recovered from that Packer loss either.
