This is my first project on Lumberjocks, so be gentle….. I make a lot of projects for a local charity, and thought this one might be of interest, as the recycle/upcycle movement is alive and well!.. My wife’s charity was given a pretty shabby headboard/footboard, but the Thrift Store manager saw beyond the obvious and with some ideas from Pintrest suggested we turn it into a bench for the store. I cut the footboard in half and cut a section out of the posts so I could rejoin them for arm rests/front feet. I put some thread on a dowel (OK. old broom handle) for more glue retention, drilled holes and clamped up overnight. We built the seat frame and attached it to the back and side pieces, cut some Pine boards to fit and rounded off the front edge. Some rattle-can paint on the bench, and stain/satin finish on the seat boards, and we think it turned out pretty cute – total cost, some Pine boards and four cans of paint.

You did a FINE job. Any recycle /upcycle is always better than pitchin it into a landfill.

Looks good Man, looks VERY GOOD !

I have an old king-sized headboard / footboard that I’ve hauled with us on our last 3 moves. ONE of these days I’m gonna do something like this with ‘em
