Anyone who knows me knows that I tend to talk to much and stick my foot in my mouth. I mentioned to the folks at the hospital that I should make a carved Rocking chair for a fundraiser. They thought that was a great idea. Of course I have never made one and wasn’t sure if had the skills to do it. But I never back down from a challenge (even if it would be intelligent to do so).

So that was early April. I spent the next few months studying Maloof rockers. Asking lots of stupid questions and building a prototype (last 2 pictures).

This is a donation to the Hospital Foundation for a fundraiser for the Hospice House.

It’s made of American Elm. It has been stained with Black Walnut Danish Oil. Then sprayed with precat satin lacquer.

I certainly am not a master woodworker. I learned an enormous amount from this.

Thanks for reading and all comments and suggestions are welcome.

-- Mother Nature created it, I just assemble it.

This may be my absolutely favorite project you have done. It is absolutely stunning. Outstanding, my friend.

Really impressive. You stepped out of your comfort zone on this one. Chairs and then rockers. Hmmmm! With this piece I think you have really evolved as a woodworker. It has your style and touch.

You have your country style pieces and these last projects are moving up the design and crafting ladder.

Very nice sir!
