Walnut and tiger maple coffee table

Project by slaphitter posted 801 days ago 554 views 2 times favorited 7 comments Add to Favorites Watch

I guess I tried to use a bit of arts-and-crafts influence in this one, although the wood choice is obviously non-traditional.

When I first brought it up from the basement, my wife hated it. But she has gotten so many compliments on it over the years, that I think she has taken a liking to it.

Funny how that works, eh? LOL

Top and stretchers are black walnut. The rest is tiger maple (yes, those legs are hewn from solid 12/4 stock I found on ebay!). The maple is finished with garnet shellac to give it that deep amber color.

That is some very nice looking Tiger Maple. I really like the contrast of the maple and walnut. Beautiful piece.

I agree with what Bill said about the contrast. Great choice of woods! That is some great dark walnut, too. Very sleek and at the same time solid-looking table.

Very nice. I especially like the joinery on the stretchers.
