I had intended this coffee table to be a Serengeti-themed project with animal inlays but I ended up selecting a figured Anigre veneer for the top and couldn’t bring myself to cut into it. (I’ll add the animal figures to the remote control caddy I will build later.) The table base is MDF with Sapele veneer and the top is Anigre. The feet are solid Peruvian Walnut and the top is trimmed in Mahogany. If I had to do it over again I would have used Peruvian Walnut trim throughout and would have used Mahogany for the base (the Sapele is beautiful but is too busy and detracts from the Anigre.

Beautiful piece!

*a side-note about Anigre. I used to operate a large veneer band-saw, years ago. I would have to shut off the dust-collection due to the sparks created while cutting the board. Awesome wood, but tough on the tools…..
