I apologize for the poor photos of this piece, they are photographs of the actual photos. This is a Cherry bookcase with a bit of Asian influence. The entire bookcase is constructed from solid Cherry, no plywood or veneer. This was the first piece I built here at my current studio location after leaving: http://timberwerksstudio.blogspot.com/2009/11/my-old-shop.html in the photos you can see the machinery from the old shop stored in the garage.

The work on this bookcase was primarily done with hand tools since I did not have adequate power in the garage for the machines. A band saw was used to re saw the Cherry for the panels. Joinery is mortise and tenon, finish is Tried & True varnish oil. July 2002

Thank you, it was a fun piece to build. I’m now a full-time hand tool wood worker, rarely do I use power tools.

Great lines to this piece. Are the top curved rails flush with the top or proud?

Thanks, the rails are proud of the top. It’s hard to see in the poor photos but the top is floating.
