This is a custom full size bed made for a princess!!! A client had this made for her daughter’s birthday a couple years back. It’s solid poplar and all of the trim detail was made by hand and NOT store bought. I like to make my own trim profiles, that’s part of doing custom work!!

We went through multiple drawings and details until we got what you see here. It was a really fun build and is a good heavy and sturdy bed!! The framework on the headboard and footboard are all mortise and tenon joinery. The bed comes apart into 4 pieces and I wish I had pictures of the rail connectors I got from Rockler. The finish is what makes this bed and the detail pop. I painted the bed with a very light gray satin sheen paint, then sanded it down a little bit distressing it and adding some character marks. After that I did a glaze or wash coat of thinned down 70 / 30 medium gray pigmented stain. The stain highlighted the distress and character and gives a look of a time warn appearance. It turned out really awesome!!!!
