I finished this cabinet earlier this year,

Can anyone guess what the timbers are ?

Yes the door and drawer panels are solid with natural feature , see 4th picture

I plan a wine rack in lower right but at this time do not have suitable timber

That is stunning Garry. I love the feature timber whatever it is.
Looks a bit like a Tassy Burl.

The frame looks like Tasmanian Blackwood
The top looks like NG Rosewood or similar
The panels look like Huon Pine but you would not be using timber in there.

Apart from that Garry, a very well constructed and presented project.

Correct on the Huon Pine in the panels Rob
The 25mm thick Huon is the front structure and the edgeing is only to protect the edge of the Huon overkill maybe but it is used in our own home and is a one off

A most excellent use of different species to make this awesome cabinet!! The figure in the pine has me staring at it trying to see shapes or figures!! Well done!

Very nice cabinet, before I cheated and read the other posts I was going to guess mesquite, although its difficult to get panels that large with it.

Do you have a plan for pulls?

Great cabinet, beautiful use of wood. Are you going to put pulls on the doors and drawers?
