As title this is for the club competition not sure now that is complete that I like it but the wife does and I am not arguing.

Made from Sapele and tulip wood the coloured bit was a failed pot that I had shaped but it was too shallow to show what I wanted so it became the decorated piece on this rather large box.

It is 5 1/2” diameter and 8” tall.

Beautiful piece, the top is fantastic. What material did you use for the “leaf” shapes on top? That looks like copper on my computer monitor, not tulip wood.

I think I’d find myself taking the lid off and back on this piece over and over, I like the very formal serious looking outside and then it opens and reveals this really cozy warm simple, but well done inside.

I applied black Ebonising Lacquer then using my finger I dabbed Jo-Sonja red iridescent paint on in a random pattern once dry sealed with a clear gloss finish.
Hope that helps

Now that’s got to be another prize winner Derek….the purple and white on the outside of the top is superb.
