My son was recently diagnosed with a recurrence of his Lymphoma. He and his wife have had to deal with this twice in their 15 months of marriage. He asked me to make them a chess board so he could do something to pass the time while he is off work. I, of course, dropped my wife’s projects to jump right on this one. (Building a chess board for him is way more fun than building slide outs for her cabinets, anyway.)
The light squares are maple. The dark squares are cherry that I dyed with to enhance their aged appearance. The border is cherry with clear finish.
The package is supposed to be delivered today. My wife is staying with them in PA to help out. I’m hoping she’ll give me a good description of his reaction to it.
