My workbench I built entirely with hand tools and sweat using cheap 2×4’s and some leg wood I picked up for free that was in my grandparents garage for 30 years or so. For the well I used a sheet of pine which probably won’t last long but I loved the big knot in it.

Vise was picked up from Woodcraft and I made the wood face from two laminated pieces of ash. Really like how it turned out. Ended up covering it with BLO mixed with wax and mineral spirits.

I bet it lasts longer than you think. Good job.

Thank you.

Your probably right. Never knew anything about a well until I built this but I actually use it all the time and can’t imagine not having one.

Learned so much just from building this.

+1 on the pine lasting longer than you think. I like how the grain matches the rest of the bench – looks good.

This bench looks pretty good! Like the design with all colors. I guess it fit to you workshop nicely.
Great job and good luck with next projects.

Love seeing your planes on their sides. Too many plane tills don’t have a pivot block to keep the blades sharp!

Nice work.

It’s a habit I have. Just feels weird to not have them on the side. I was at a Lie-Nielson event this last week and I was even putting the demo planes on the side that I didn’t even use. Yeah I’m that guy…
