I turned this on my lathe after reading the book “To Turn The Perfect Bowl-The Lifelong Quest of Bob Stocksdale” that I won in the monthly Lumberjock Book drawing. It seems that Bob had entered a juried contest that involved making something on the lathe that was both art and utile, or useful. That got me thinking about making something that was useful, a vase of sorts, and a classical object, an urn, or in this case the classical lines of a Grecian Urn. Or as my Grandson said, ” hey grandpa, that’s a neat trophy.” Anyway, I apologize for the bad photography.

Cool beer mug and it has two handles so you don’t drop it… Must be fun to be able to turn as well as you do.. I might have to try it one day…

Very cool Mike. Would love to watch you turn sometime. The thought line is not as pornographic as that sounds :)

I think this one of your best turnings Mike.
That book must be inspirational for you.

I shared this project with my contact at Fox Chapel. It has now been shared with all the staff to show them how their books inspire others! COOL.
