I have had piece of heat treated ash in my shop many year saving it for some special project.. when I saw this contest I had vision of cabinet and here it is. Yin yang symbol is flame birch dark side is heat treated, surrouding ring is heat treated oak. Symbol is varnished and waxed for shining other parts of cabinet is oiled and waxed matt to have this contrast of good and bad. Also cabinet frame and doors are made from heat treated birch which is contrast for really nice figured ash. There will be glass shelves inside but I don“t have them yet, hope you like..

Very nice. Can you describe the process of “heat treated” wood? I’m not familiar with that.

Very impressive! Beautifully designed and executed. I really like the Yin Yang symbol and how you use the holes as door pulls. The whole cabinet is eye catching and the choice of wood is just fantastic. Thanks for sharing!
