(Design Studio 1)
Had almost 2 months time for this assignment. Assignment was to design a university dorm. Had to come up with a good concept and build many models – trial or study models. Experimented using different materials for the study models, had to make several in different sizes with slight modifications. There are also details models of certain portions of the structure or building {sorry for the bad english.. not yet perfect :) still learning}

Architecture, art, furniture, it is all related.
The principles of balance and proportion, playing the contrast in color and texture, these are universally applicable to all the disciplines.
It is good to see some architecture oriented projects here.
Thanks for sharing.

If you have the talent for this , then you certainly can become an excellent woodworker : )

Thank you for al the kind comments everyone :)
@Ray – I would love to show you more of my models but they don’t really use wood, i only started using wood and that too in a small way. Have a project that have just gotten a few days ago for interior design class, am starting to do my drafting. Classical french has been chosen for me so maybe i shall try the model making using wood if i am able to do good job at it :)

Being able visualize is major aspect of design. Once you learn more about woodworking you should become a good furniture designer.

Thank you ND2ELK! I should like very much to learn about woodworking, they dont actually teach us how to make model really in school, you learn these things on your own. Basically they teach us everything about design and constrcution and how to put forth our idea, rest we figure out ourselves. I am assuming i would make horrible furniture designer haha.. it is not something i am very passionate about. I should like to delve into it sometime soon but i much rather first learn about architecture.. Sometimes my taste can be very strange and others might not like them, if i was to someday build my own home and make my own furniture i am pretty sure other people would feel as though i live in mad or weird looking house haha.
Have your say...
