So I had some left over black walnut from my platform build project and thought I’d do something with it while I was also working on my workbench build. Looking at the slab The Light came on and I decided on making a quick side table but I didn’t want to make it completely out of walnut so I went and picked up a bit of Honduran mahogany to make the rails. Legs are tapered down to 1/2 their thickness on the insides and there is a slight arch on the long rails to also lighten it further. Finish is one coat of Seal-A-Cell and four coats of Arm-R-Seal followed up by a waxing with 0000 steel wool.

I really like the separation of the top from the base, great selection of wood, over all great work.

I like that floating design. I hope not to much dust gets inside.

This is the first time I’ve ever seen a floating top that I liked. Very elegant design, well done!
