Opa has tremors which make it difficult to hold his Bible and other books when he reads in his Lazy Boy so he requested a tray with a book shelf similar to a music stand. I used all hand tools and learned some skills on the way to a useful gift for Opa’s 82nd birthday. He uses it everyday!

Very clever and I am sure a big help to Opa. I like your use of the handscrew as the board-jack. Nice work.

Swirt, I like your design and execution on the tray. Building items for our elders is very satisfying is you already know. It is nice to be able to give back to someone who helped you obtain the skills to do so in the first place through a lifetime of lessons.

I recently built my grandmother a game set. The dominos were 1/2” T inside of 3/8T this allowed her to pick them up easier. I also made card holders that would hold her cards during bridge games. She had resently had a series of mini strokes and was depressed she had to give up dominos and bridge due to grip issues from the strokes. Now she is able to play using the custom built set which has reall raised her spirits.

Take care.

Something went off the rails here. I didn’t build this cool tray. DeepWater did :)
