built in box beds hand carved

I carved and built these two full sized beds for the upstairs of my house. They eliminate the need for a guest room and give privacy to the occupants.
One theme is night and the other is day.
Carvings are all done by hand tools in pine and painted with oil pigments.

I must say, very unusual to see “build in beds” however, I like the idea a lot.

Haven’t seen anything like that in… I shouldn’t say, but it was a LONG time ago… I didn’t think anyone was doing built ins anymore… I remember as a kid I had a neighbor family that did built ins in their finished attic to provide ample “bedroom” space for a fairly sizeable family in a small house…

Love the carvings too!

Thanks for the comments.
The beds are very comfortable and cozy. My 81 year old mother stayed with me and slept in one, and was very impressed at how much at home she felt in her little space.

The beds are fashioned after Scandinavian built in beds, and I’ve found them to be very practical.
Thanks again for looking.

That is so magical. I have always wanted to try something like that, but it seems so overwhelming and time-consuming
