I have been working for over a year trying to get this color. It is a mix of three different colors, and some of the attempts ended up worse than puke green. These two vases are maple burl roughly 13 inches tall and 10 ish inches wide.

Wow ! I think this is Fabulous .. Love it.
Here is some thing you can try that works a treat but may supprise you , and thats Fiebings Leather Dye !
Yes you read that correct. Its a Oil Dye that takes to wood beautifully .
Brush it on let it dry, it does dry matt but then spray poly varnish coating on it.
Available on ebay in a whole range of colors.

I applaud you for jumping into the area of colour and wood. It takes a lot of courage and you have have made two wonderful pieces. Bravo!

Excellent job of coloring and of course turning. What did you use for the black interior Bill ? I posted a project yesterday that I will complete today or tomorrow, couldn’t decide what to use for the black interior contrast thanks. don s.

The best thing is you have managed to color the wood without changing the character and glow of the Maple, very nice! I’ve tried to do that with toners (colors mixed in with a clear coat), but have always got results that were a tad to ‘cloudy’ or murky and certainly nowhere near as vibrant.
