Recently completed this and boy did it turn out sweet. A 2.5 inch thick live edge slab 52” long and 18 W. Sits 18” high on handmade wrought iron base. after sanding to 220 , first a sanding sealer then five coats of wipe on water based poly, wet sanded between coats up to 600 grit then a buff coat of carnauba wax. and POW a glass smooth beauty arrives. got this slab from Millers Milling [ scott miller 916-969-9615{ (find him on facebook} located near Sacramento, Ca. He has lots of walnut and redwood slabs at very low competitive prices. A nice guy who appreciates woodworkers. I filled the voids with malachite and space filling super glue

Great looking coffee table—I like the metal base, and love that walnut slab!
