my first posted project, but I’m rather happy with this one. This is a solid cherry panel and sapele frame small blanket chest. all M&T, no screws or nails, no cheating. the floor in the chest is cedar. the pegs in the cherry top breadboards are bulletwood. I build a lot of these in a mixture of species, but the darker ones are always my favorite. I’m still an idiot when it comes to sizing, and the 14” wide top meant that it wouldn’t fit though my planer, so I had to flatten it by hand. I love doing it, but I’ll still elect to use the planer if I can wimp out of the real work.

That’s a very nice looking blanket chest! I like the cherry/sapele wood combo—nice contrast, without being too much. Whoever takes this home will really enjoy it!
