I finally got around to posting this project which was completed some time ago.

We converted a combination living room/dining room into a hobby room for my wife’s scrapbooking.

The link below shows a fuller set of the entire remodel I completed which included – framing in double doors, taking out a stairway railing and installing a pocket door and finally adding recessed lights and ceiling fan.

The built-ins came a little later after the room was completed.

Whoa, that’s pretty intense. Your wife must really be into scrapbooking! That’s a top rate operation there! You really did right by her.

Wow, she’d put Hobby Lobby out of business. (Or Joanne’s, Michael’s, Walmart, etc,,,,). Well done on the build. I’d imagine you did some serious planning since the finished product is so complex. Looks nice, it seems balanced to the eye which says a lot relative to planning/design. Thanks for sharing.

My wife’s just a little jealous. She just got a spare bedroom to turn into her scrapbook room after her oldest moved out. Seeing your pictures I may have to stop giving her so much grief about how much paper she has. But I’m sure I won’t lol.

@jonlruss –
This room is just a portion of all it though, my wife sells supplies part time and we have just under 35k sheets of paper in tubs in the garage which I get to move at least once a month to various events around our area. So you shouldn’t let your wife know about that….. 
I really enjoy how much my wife loves “her room” and I must admit it is a scrapbooker’s dream room – all of my wife’s scrapbooking friends are constantly asking me to complete a build at their home too. I always tell them that if they are Ok with shoddy work that takes too long and is overpriced then I am their man… for some reason nobody has said yes yet.
It was a fun build with the room remodel being completed in about 1.5 months (nights and weekends) and the built-ins took about 5 more months to get done. Took so long to get the built-ins done since we converted this living room to a scrapbook room due to birth of our 2nd daughter which occurred right after the room was done. So after the birth I took 2.5 months off just holding her every night for a couple of hours rather than being in the shop.
Thanks for the compliments…
Now if I can only get this much time/energy focused on my shop who knows what I could build….

Looks great and very well organised. I bet she will have more productive inspiration in such environment.

WOW! Great job!

But seeing all that material makes me ever so glad that my wife switched from Creative Memories to digital scrap booking. :-)

Cheers
