Hi everyone, my project is a 9/11 remembrance clock I built for an upcoming charity auction and remembrance ride event put on by AMVETS. The proceeds will go to local veterans and first responders programs.
Materials: 50 yr old pine flooring from a chicken coop in NC. (Had to power wash and remove 28 nails so I could start milling it.)
Cherry, cherry veneer, and Baltic birch plywood.
Finish: provincial stain and wipe on polyurethane
Build time: 15 hrs ( a lot of it spent hand burning the three images on the back board of he clock.)
The concept for design was a collaboration of different designs I found here. Sort of an informal case /farmhouse style clock.
The pyrography represents the efforts of the ordinary heroes ( first responders, and military) took to make the best of that terrible day. On the face of the clock is an outline of the pentagon, directly below is the site marker of flight 93 and the last image is of the ordinary heroes watching over NYC skyline.
If you are local to Tampa,Fl come out and support the event. http://cigarcityhog.com/event/ride-tbd-6/
