Turned Cherry with Turquoise

Project by johnc posted 805 days ago 253 views 1 time favorited 7 comments Add to Favorites Watch

I found this log in my neighbors wood pile. The tree was diseased and taken down and it has a lot of cool natural voids, some of which I filled with turquoise.

Great project. The bowl has some real character.

Very nice, do you grind up the turquoise and mix with epoxy to make it hold?

Great job! What are the dimensions? Do you have information on the turquoise technique and where to get the supplies?

I get the turquoise stone from a catalog or buy larger chunks at stone/gem shops and crush myself. I use CA glue to set it in the wood. There are a lot of articles online with various techniques for this. I first saw this in a piece in a gallery and went online to learn about it – it seems to be fairly popular at the moment

This vase is about 9×5

That’s pretty cool. I like the form.
