The wife has been asking for quite some time for a coffee table for the family room. This summer I finally got around to building one. I made it out of read oak as I had it laying around. The shorter pcs I was able to get from scraps of other projects leaving mainly the top and shelf that needed larger pcs. Overall it is 24” x 48” x 18” tall.

I tried a new trick on this one by cutting all the mortises by hand instead of using a router etc. Took a bit longer, but they came out ok.

That’s a real nice looking coffee table. Your wife should certainly be happy with it.

Well done!
It looks like you have some end tables and other projects that need doing, better stock up on the oak! Enjoy the peace and quiet of mortising by hand, it’s a skill that will serve you well on many fronts.

Have your say...
