Built for and with my youngest as she gets set up in her new house is one of those Pinterest inspired crate box furniture pieces. Had fun fabricating the top out of one by pine boards and a quickie frame for the bottom. By no means is this to be considered “fine” furniture but the daughter of “she who must be obeyed” wanted it so here you are. She did do a fair amount of work with stain and poly on the boxes, leaving me the duties regarding the top and bottom. You MUST be willing to overlook the cheap and flimsy nature of the crates else it’ll drive you batty trying to get everything square!

Looks nice. I have one made from four crates. I am fixing to dismantle it and use the crates elsewhere. I can reuse the platform to mount the new table on.

While my coffee table looks nice, the slats are flimsy and I have already had to replace one. And now a second one is broken. Dang toddlers! For the past 2 years, I have covered it with 1/4 inch mdf during the Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays so folks can have a place to sit their food and drinks.

You won’t have that problem with your top like it is.

Here is my current coffee table…soon to be history. I must add that is has made it 2 1/2 years.
