This my first time turning Claro Walnut and I have to say I’m a huge fan. I used a small round bit carbide turning tool for most of the work and finished it off with a round nose scraper and a small skew chisel. The goblet style bowl was an experiment based on an iron wood mortar and pestle set I saw years ago. The larger bowl is a design off the top of my head while i was on the lathe. Both the inside of the bowls and the crushing ends of the mortars are sealed in food safe butcher block oil. The handles and outsides of the bowls are finished with a couple coats of wipe on poly.

Very pretty pieces. Beware the VIMH – it’s a crew that can get out of hand.
