Made a lot of mistakes but I’ll get the hang of it with practice. It’s mahogany.

Great first go….isn’t it great to get a project done so quick? These are great to turn when you need some instant gratification…especially if the big project you are working on is causing you fits (I’ve been working on a bowl that the blank was totally unstable (unfortunately not on the outside)...have been glueing and patching and glueing…etc). Maybe I should turn a few of these to get my sanity back…

Did you turn a tenon? Or glue directly to the blank?

Thanks all. Reggiek: I drilled the block and glued a 3/8 dowel and used the dowel to chuck it up. Make a couple more today and my daughter made one from start to finish. Her hands are steadier than mine. lol

Looks nice. Great color, and the shape should make it easy to get a good grip to pull out the cork!
