I have been working on this project for many months now. Last weekend I was able to finally do the final finish sand and staining. I used a dark walnut stain and once the rest of the table is done I will polyurethane it. I still need to finish the legs and paint them, but I wanted to post pictures of table top as a little preview of the project.

About the table: It is made from rough cut Doug Fir that I cut to size and planed. I used biscuit joints to join the top. It is made up of 6 boards and the breadboard on either end. The overall size of the top is 8 foot long by 42 inches wide.

Was the Douglas fir re-purposed lumber or new ?
You have a really good start.
What color are you planning using for legs ?
I love walnut stain as well.
BLACK Walnut is my choice, some think it is too dark.
Show us the finished result.
NICE to see .

Thank you fivecodys.

Canadianchips – the Doug fir was new rough cut. I found someone here that has a mill and cuts a few different species of wood. The wife picked the color for the legs, it’s kind of a light grey.
I like walnut stain as well, I will have to check out black walnut. Where do you get that stain I’m not sure I have ever seen it anywhere?

Legs and stretcher are all put together and painted. Just need to poly the top and put it all together. I will get some pictures uploaded in the next couple days.

We have a store called Windsor plywood in WESTERN Canada. I think Watco makes black Walnut, might be called Dark Walnut.
Minwax makes one but it is called “Jacobean” or “ebony”
