I built this table for my cousin. She saw a table she liked in a store in Pittsburgh but it was on back order. I based my design off of the table she liked. I changed the legs, added a shelf, and spiced up the profile around the edges. Made from aromatic cedar, I stabilized the knots with epoxy and siliconed the slate tiles on the top and sealed it up. The finish is min-wax wipe-on clear gloss poly urethane. I installed 2 hooks on the inside face of the back apron and 2 i-bolts on an extra board that can be sanded periodically to revitalize the aroma. I later read an article that did not recommend using urethane of aromatic cedar cause of the oils in the wood. It has been 6 months since and I haven’t heard any complaints since.
