I finally finished our new headboard. The posts and rails are redwood, and the sunburst is QS euro beech. In order to move the pinkish redwood to more of a sunrise/sunset orange, I finished it with four coats of amber shellac (sprayed).
Mortise and tenon on the rails and posts, and pocket screws for the sunburst. The rays are rabbeted into the back of the sun, to add depth.
All in all, I’m happy with it. More importantly, my wife likes it!
