This is a small box was actually several years in the making. I started off trying to resaw the quarter sawn sycamore that I used for the lid but it didn’t come out as expected so I shelved it for a year or so and then came back to it and it made a very nice lid for this cherry box. I added the walnut handle as an accent.

Very clean design. It looks very useable, long handle is a nice touch.

Very nice. I have quite a bit of sycamore that I bought a few years ago (great deal) and I have not been happy with anything I made with it. This illustrates that sycamore can be a very attractive wood if you know how to incorporate it into your project. Well done.

I love sycamore. Especially quartersawn sycamore. Almost as much as I love walnut. I’ve also been known to put a box aside for a year or two until I get the right inspiration for the rest of the pieces. Anyway, good job on the box, it’s beautiful.
Best,
