This is an ash end grain cutting board I made for my mom’s surprise 60th birthday party. It’s large, roughly 16.5” square and about 1.5” tall. As usual, it took more time than expected but I’m very happy with the end product. She has a tendency to not want to use her nice kitchen stuff, so I told her it’s made to be used! I accompanied the gift with care instructions and a bottle of mineral oil/beeswax.

Nice. I made my mother one also and she wouldn’t use it either. I had to cut it up for her first. No pun intended with ” I’m very happy with the end product”.

I have started using a lot more ash lately. I love the end grain of it, has so much more character than maple.
