A project with pine cones

One year while camping in Colo. We collected pine cones, brought them back home and pulled them apart. It does take a pair of gloves to keep from getting stuck then I super glued them on an owl I had bought from home depot in the garden section. Actually he is sitting on a little electric turn table on the deck I made to keep the birds out of the dry cat food.
I bought the feathers and eyeballs from hobby lobby to make it more realistic. It also takes a pair pliers or strong hands to pull the pine cones apart then a pair of scissors to trim the pieces to lay in nicely to make it look like feathers of an owl.

Using him as a scare crow only worked for about two weeks before the grackles go wise then back inside on the shelf.

This guy is about 15 years old and gets a little dusty from time to time but a blow gun helps there.

This was a fun project with little cost.

I have the same problem with the dog food bucket, eurasian collared doves, and grackles. I usually move the bucket to a new location every week but your ‘scare-owl’ looks like a fun solution!

Hey I found out what a grackle is

Its a bird similar to the pesky Indian Mina bird we have here, they also drive away the natural wildlife birds

working on Lubbock!!

Robert I was going to give you an answer to the 2 questions but I could not think up a funny answer.

Wife and I were planning to go to your country when we retired but after learning a little something about it we figured the word change over book from our to your language would keep the plane from getting off the ground. Plus being a wimp in the water she didn’t think she could swim that far…......................I better add a small disclaimer to that line of thought, this is the only thing she can not do better than I….Just in case she happens to read this…

If you are thinking about doing something with pine cones it is best to get them fresh when they drop out of the trees. They look kinda new and store bought about then…
