Scrap wood lamp

Here’s my first ever lamp project. All the wood was left over from projects that didn’t happen or was just scrap pieces. The wire runs through the copper tube on the left side. The copper bands on the top block are there because the block split while I was chiseling out the inside for the light bezel. The bulb is an antique styled LED squirrel cage. It’s finished with tung oil to show off the individual wood species.

Yep – Steampunk was what I thought as soon as I saw it. I like it!!

Simple, effective way to use to use up scraps. Nice scraps by the way. Cherry, bloodwood or maybe bubinga, lace wood, and walnut??, wenge maybe too?

I have loads of scraps that will be made into clocks – someday. I like them better than cutting boards.

Since the LJ site can’t handle portrait mode pics, only take and upload pictures in landscape orientation. The reposted pics in the comments were probably posted by saving them in Photobucket and adding them in the comments. Unfortunately that won’t work in the project file.
