While not my best woodworking to date… it was very appreciated by the wife. She doesn’t care so much about Christmas lights but by golly we have to have a cool looking house for Halloween. Had some crummy particle board stuff laying around that hadn’t been used in a while and decided to make some tombstones this year. Free handing letters with a router isn’t exactly the easiest thing to do but they came out OK. Good thing too… apparently routers don’t come with erasers OR spell check.

The picture of them in the garage shows the original idea. The stone paint was nice in the daytime but lacked punch in the evening. To solve that problem I hit them with some neon yellow paint and then used glow in the dark paint on the inside of the letters. Add some black lights to the yard, a smoke machine by the door, and some cobwebs and you’re in business!

I too have misspelled with a router, mostly names associated with gifts. It’s a little hard to recover from that but it is doable if the project accommodates a replacement piece of wood. Spooky looking work, keep it up. Later, BTKS
