I was asked to support our local United Way campaign by donating a ‘Florida Coastal Cottage” piece of furniture to be raffled off. Off in the shop awaited some AARP rated pine slabs. (Yes, old growth fir at 8/4 and 6/4, 16 inches wide and collecting too much dust)
A little jointing, some noisy planing, a few rips and cross cuts and I had a nice pile of wood dirt and some fine white pieces of clear stock with 4 straight and parallel edges. Bored, counter sunk, screwed and plugged, the frame was assembled, the top was on, the legs were attached and all it needed was some ‘tropical’ paint. A white latex primer and ‘honeydew’ top coat (3 coats) was almost all she needed to bask in the Florida sun. I took her to the beach, added a few accessories and snapped her picture…. Nothing like spoting a well shaped leg (or 4) at the beach. Eh guys? Hope you enjoy the end result.

Dan,
Thank you for the kind words. Wish I could show more of my work, but I seldom take pictures of any of it. As for the photography, well KUDOS to Mother Nature for providing such a lovely setting only minutes from our home and to wifey for lending me her little snap shooter. Just like a PC,,, Point and Click and you have it.

For all of you that viewed and/or commented, thank you. Update: The Herman’s Bay Bench was raffled off today and won by a long time friend and co-worker. It was a win-win-win situation. I got to spend two days in the shop having fun, a friend won the bench and most importantly our local United Way will get a nice donation. Time to get back to designing NEXT YEARS project.

Congrats on a great project! It looks like a picture straight from a magazine. I certainly hope you enjoyed those fine beverages after the photo shoot! You deserve it on a job well done, especially for a charitable organization.

Thanks Mark. I appreciate your comment. Actually, I shared the beverages with a 60’s plus Britsh Gentleman and his Lady as they walked off the beach. They were tourists visiting our area. They enjoyed them.
