When I was a teenager I was given a gibson A-model mandolin that was in poor shape. so I fixed it up and sold it for 65 dollars.Years later I saw one in a music repair shop and got permision to take all the measurements I needed to build one for myself.I took a long time to build it so that I could be sure I was doing all the right things so that it would actually sound good. Well time paid off because it sounds great. The maple, walnut, ebony, ash and mahogany all give it great contrast.

Great job. Tell us more on the construction. What kind of wood? What jigs did you use, and anything else that whould be of interest.

I’m sure it sounds great because I know it looks great. Very impressive!
What is your source for buying hardware and strings?

I haven’t thought of selling them and if I did they would be expensive.the time involved is alot.WOODMIGHT—what would you sell an f-5 for? there is alot more work in one of those I’m sure.
Where did you get your plans to build one of those?

No—infact I just thought of putting it in the contest for grins. If i did do that it would mean I would have to build another one.(sounds like i’m lazy doesn’t it—haha) but your Idea is a good one.maybe if I get layed off I can do that.

Very nice! Maybe you should change your profile name to “Lackey the Luthier”.

Really nice workmanship. I can’t imagine what it would take to do just one. Seems there are a lot of special jigs and tools involved in this.
