Well I was getting tired of tying the vacuum hose to the bed of the lathe and then retying it just to move a foot or so. Then I thought of this setup, it’s a 3/4 steel bar with the end turned down to fit in the cage mount on the lathe. I don’t use the cage anyway so I thought I would put it to good use. The bracket is a piece of aluminum which I mill and drilled it, and then tapped it for the knob that I bought at OSH.

Good idea, it looks really professional.

Hey that’s a neat idea. I was thinking of something like that to hold a light that I could slide along the length of the lathe and hold it where I need it. Now you can clamp you vacuum to the bar at any location and any angle!!
Thanks for sharing that with everyone!!

Hold a light…that’s a good idea. I’ll have to rig one up.

Looks good enough to put on an aircraft, nice crisp work, and very functional too.
