Cherry card box with walnut splined corners. A gift for my sister’s bridal shower. Raised panel bottom due to the width exceeding my planer. I finish sanded the top and bottom with my surface sander. Rattle can sprayed 4 coats of satin lacquer. 14” front to back, 16 side to side, 6” deep. The top and bottom came from the same board. Does anyone have a theory about the cause of the brown color instead of the more common red/pink normally present?

It’s a very nice box.
